`a Naiads (stream/wetland nymph) `was not born of godly origins unlike most `one of the prettiest maids in celtic village `loved hunting, ran with the deer, worshiped Artemis `was betrothed happily to the horse trader's son `day before wedding, he died in a tragic accident `nomadic bandits raided his home and pillaged ` so grief-stricken, she ran into the forest and sobbed for many days by her favorite pond ` did not even notice the torrential rain mixing with her tears `pond turns into a swampy marsh `sadly, she drowns, but Artemis felt pity for her `turned her into a nymph, forever letting her stay in her foresty home `on foggy nights, she lures lost travelers to her pond b/c she is lonely `appears as a laughing waif running, leads them right into the marshes `drags them into the watery depths, many bodies underneath the water `the bodies resurface on rainy nights accompanied with the faint sound of sobbing.
